This list is only a sampling of the thousands of scholoarship opportunities available. At the end of this list are scholarship search sites that will email you more opportunities after you complete a personal profile.

Remember scholarships do not cost money and you can find them for free. You can also network with your family and friends. Does the company they work for offer scholarships? Do they belong to any other organizations that offers scholarships? It doesn' t hurt to ask, and if you don't ask, you will never know!

Ron Brown Scholar Program
Deadline: January 9, 2017
Award: $40,000
Final postmarked deadline to be considered for the Ron Brown Scholar Program ONLY. This program seeks to identify Black or African American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service
activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card.

Dell Foundation Scholarship
Deadline: January 15, 2017
Award: $20,000
Must be in AVID to apply. $20,000 awards, which can be spread over six years, including graduate studies. The program website lists the guidelines, but, in a nutshell, successful applicants must have at least a 2.4 GPA, have overcome obstacles, demonstrate an interest in attending a four-year college, and are Pell Grant eligible.

U.S. Scholarship Program

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California awards 109 scholarships to students who; current senior eligible to attend an accredited 2 -4 year college, university or vocational/technical school, reside in Ventura county, Us citizen, GPA of at least 2.7.

Ventura County Community Foundation Scholarships

Awards: $500 - $20,000
At least one of you letters of recommendation must be from a teacher at Santa Paula H.S. There are many scholarships for various career choices. This large fund usually awards $75,000 or more a year to our scholars. You should check it out and apply. Please, if you encounter problems talk with Mrs. Learn or your counselor.

CAC educational scholarship Foundation

Award: $2,500
The Educational Scholarship Foundation was founded in 2005 by the California Association of Collectors (CAC ESF). The scholarship requires a simple one-page application and an essay on "The Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Financial Credit During Your College Years". The scholarship is available to any California high school senior for their use at any accredited college, university, or trade school.

Edison Scholars Program
To qualify, you must be a high school senior planning to pursue science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) at a four-year college or university on a full-time basis. Additional eligibility requirements: GPA of 3.0 or better. Live in the Southern California Edison service territory, or attend a high school in the Southern California Edison service territory. Demonstrate financial need. Plan to major in any of these STEM fields: engineering (electrical, mechanical, civil, computer, industrial, or environmental); computer science / information systems; or environmental sciences

I Have A Dream Scholarship
Deadline: January 31, 2017
Award: $1,500
Eligibility: 9-12 grade; legal resident of the state; plan on attending an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education no later than the fall of 2023. Submit an online short written response (250 words or less) for the scholarship topic: “We want to know…what do you dream about? Whether it’s some bizarre dream you had last week, or your hopes for the future, share your dreams with us for a chance to win $1,500 for college.”

California Strawberry Scholarship

Awards: $400 and up.
Must have parents who are California Strawberry workers.

Santa Paula Lion’s Club Speech
Deadline: To Be Announced
Award: $100
Topic: "Is the Right to Privacy a Threat to Our National Security?" To provide an opportunity for competitive public speaking among students on a subject of vital interest to the contestants and to the American people as a whole, a 5-10 minutes in length. The contest is open to students who reside in Santa Paula, including foreign exchange students, grades 9-12, of any high school or junior high school, charter school, private school, home school or independent study. 2. Army Scholarships / Navy & Marine Scholarships / Airforce Scholarships
Various branches of the Armed Services offer scholarships through college ROTC programs. These programs offer officer training programs while a student receives a college education and requires military service upon graduation.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,000 to $2,500
Scholarships to support Hispanics in higher education. Requirements for all HSF scholarships are: must be of Hispanic heritage; be a US Citizen or permanent resident; minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have applied for federal financial aid (FAFSA).

Hispanic College Fund Scholarships
Minimum eligibility criteria for all HCF Programs: Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher; must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; must be studying full-time in the U.S. or through a U.S. based study abroad program. Register with HCF online. Your information will be matched with scholarships programs that you can apply for. Apply to all of the programs on your list.

Freedom Alliance Scholarship
Deadline: Applications accepted year round
Eligibility: High school senior who is a dependent of an active duty service member who was killed or permanently disabled (100% rating) as the result of an operational mission or training accident, or who is currently certified as POW or MIA. An information sheet is available in the Career Center.

The Art Institutes Culinary Arts “Best Teen Chef” Competition
The winner of this competition will win a full-tuition scholarship to The Art Institutes location of their choice. See website for additional information and application.

AFS-USA Scholarship
